Sishen represents one of the largest iron ore reserves in the world having estimated reserves of 2.43 billion tonnes. There has been expansion into a region known as the Sishen South exploration project (Kolamela Mine) which is 65 km south of Sishen mine and lies on the outskirts of Postmasburg.
