Witsand Nature Reserve

Description

Located about 78km south of Olifantshoek, this reserve features 100-meter-high, 10km-long white sand dunes that starkly contrast the surrounding red Kalahari dunes.

Witsand Nature Reserve is a scenic park, teeming with bird life, including the Namaqua sandgrouse, the sociable weaver (with their huge nests) and Africa’s smallest raptor- the Pygmy Falcon.

It further features impressive golden and red sand dunes better known as the roaring sands of the Kalahari reaching up to sixty meters high surrounded by copper-red Kalahari sand, Acacia woodland, and the Langberg Mountain range.

With excellent facilities and a wide range of nature-based activities Witsand is an ideal family friendly eco destination.

We invite you to come and experience the home of the famous “Brulsand” or Roaring Sands of the Kalahari.

Witsand offers a choice of accommodation to suit all needs including universal access. All accommodation options are superbly positioned to allow for privacy and a real Kalahari experience.
